TOWEEZ App and Website Design
For my Edge Project, I choose to design an app and website for a towing company. I was presented with the opportunity to work with a company on designing an app that would help the company go from paper to paperless. This was to make the recording of the towing company more efficient and it was to help save money. Throughout this project I was exposed to life after college. It gave me the opportunity to learn how to work with a client, and also to be a head designer on a big project. This project exposed me to what I could potentially be doing for the rest of my life.

The process of my project was one of many meetings with clients, and countless hours spent in front of my computer designing. To begin, I had my initial meeting with the client, where he explained his goals and what elements he wanted in his app and website. From there I would go home and design different pages in the app or website. I would meet with the client every week and we would go over every design. He would tell me what worked for him and discuss changes, where I would then fix it and meet again. This process went on for about two month until we had the final project.

The inspiration for this project came from a member of my church. He came to me and told me about an opportunity he had for me to design. A meeting was set up between my client and myself. From there it was easy. I got the job and began working on my project. At this time in my schooling I was taking a web design class. This gave me the knowledge and the inspiration for many of my designs.
Throughout this project I faced many challenges. Some days I had a hard time staying motivated. I would be working on it for a long period of time and I would just want to stop and take a break. Another challenge I faced was having a creative block. It was a struggle to always have a plan, and sometimes I just didn’t know how to make the design come out of my head onto the screen. All of these challenges were minor challenges. I was able to overcome by taking a break and reevaluating my ideas. I also would review the notes from my meetings with the client and then dive back into my work.
This project benefitted many people besides myself. First off, It benefitted my client. He was able to get the design that he wanted for his company. He was able to make his hopes and wishes come true with the help of me. Some other people it benefitted were the people who would use the app. It helped them become paper free, which made the company more money.
This project benefitted me in many ways. First off, It gave me experience. I was able to gain experience with working with a client. I also was able to practice designing for the web, and for apps. This helped my skills become better. This project is also benefitted my resume. It will be a great “job” to show to my potential employers.

“As I work on this project I am impressed with how my knowledge and skills of using Adobe illustrator has grown. This has been a great opportunity to expand my knowledge on the products I will be using everyday as a designer.”
“Working with a client has been a lot harder than I expected. Sometimes I worry about not being able to present him with a product he likes. Although it is hard, it also very rewarding when we meet and he loves the designs i’ve showed him.”
